CLEARWATER – On Monday, February 23, 2009, the Curtis McGee Pro-Am will get underway in conjunction with the 5th Annual Sheriff Jim Coat’s Clearwater Open to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of the Suncoast. The Pro-Amateur will include 28 mixed doubles pairs consisting of 28 professional female tennis players and 28 male amateur players, and will be held at the Henry L. McMullen Tennis Complex in Clearwater,.

Participating in this year’s line-up of entertainment at the Curtis McGee Pro-Am will be renowned Jazz artist Eric Darius, R&B sensation Tyesha Williams along with special guest appearances by NFL Players. In addition to this, there will be two books signings held by Kathy Woods author of “Playing Tennis Over 50,” and Ken Emery author of “Create the Life You Deserve” motivational book.

“Given today’s tough economy I can’t thank enough the entertainers, sponsors and players for donating their time and resources to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast,” commented Curtis McGee, President of the Lightning Bolt Sports Youth Foundation and the Blue Chip Sports Youth Foundation.

Curtis McGee is a premiere trainer and fitness expert that has dedicated his life to sports and fitness. McGee has directly impacted the lives of thousands of clients through his dynamic skills and proven techniques of personal training. Proceeds from the Curtis McGee Pro-Am will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Suncoast which serves more than 11,000 children in Pinellas County in after-school and summer programs that provide tutoring, self esteem building, social and leadership skills, abuse prevention, health and physical fitness and other life enhancing behaviors. The 5th Annual Sheriff Jim Coat’s Clearwater Open is one of only fourteen $50,000 events on the women’s USTA Pro Circuit Calendar, and attracts players on average from twenty different countries with rankings as high as fifty in the world on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.
